As a child Mary was fascinated by the changing patterns seen inside a kaleidoscope, and there seems to be a link between this and her interest and enjoyment centred on fused glass art.

Mary’s art glass skills were learnt at Stanton Guildhouse 8 years ago. Since then she has concentrated on making kiln fired glass, incorporating into her unique and colourful designs, dichroic frits and iridescent glass as well as other beautiful pieces of handmade glass. Fused glass bowls, lamps, pictures and decorative panels have been the main items made, each one an individual piece. Recently an interest has developed in producing blocks of six or seven layers, each with a different scene/design to produce a 3D effect.

The intensity of glass colours has brought her much pleasure and she takes particular delight in the often random success of playing out fresh colour schemes.

Mary regularly exhibits her bulls eye fused glass objects throughout Gloucestershire and sold pieces of art glass at Martin’s Gallery in Cheltenham, Hadfield Fine Art, Broadway Modern, Barnbury, and with the Fosseway Artists.

Mary is a member of The Fosseway Artists society, Cheltenham Art Club and the Contemporary Glass Society
