After a career as an architect, Simon completed a Foundation Degree in Creative Practice at Stroud College in 2012 and went on to gain an MA in Fine Art from Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. His work is informed by his background in architecture. His work is largely figurative with a strong emphasis on drawing. Simon uses a variety of mainly traditional media, including graphite, watercolour and acrylic.

Like any professional draftsmen, Simon knows how to look and, therefore, translate what he sees or envisages in amazing accuracy and with precision.

"I look at art in much the same way I do architecture, with an analytical eye and the creativity flows out of that.”

"My work is about creating the sense of place, so if I am drawing a bridge by the canal, it's about reflecting on its history and the way nature has moved in and trying to capture that atmosphere.”

Simon has also built up a strong reputation as a gifted portrait artist. His detailed accurate graphite drawings of adults and children are stunning.

Simon is a member of the Society for Graphic Fine Art and his work has been shown with the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and in the Royal Watercolour Society Contemporary Watercolour Exhibition.
